I just got 5 silkie roosters that I plan to use in my breeding program after they make it through quarentine...when I was taking them out of the cage I counted their toes to make sure they were correct and noticed that the spurs on both feet had grown into a complete circle...should I cut them short and treat for bleeding and pain or should i just coat with oil and wiggle it off...was told that birds grown on wire will have this problem...just wondering the best method...cutting or removing the whole spur?
