Want to raise geese to help feed my family, permanently maintaining six Embden breeding parents. Goal is to produce 365-Lbs of meat for freezer annually. At 70% dress-out, that means 521-Lbs live. Which means around 30 offspring per year. In my area the grass reliably grows so fast that my 16HP lawn tractor often bogs down with the weekly cuttings from mid-April to mid-October. Can I realistically do this on a fenced 1/2 acre in my back yard? Can also suppliment the total feed with mowed grass raked from the 1/4 acre in my front yard if necessary. If not, what numbers would be realistic? Any advice appreciated!...
