I have one that I can't even make eye contact with her because if I do she immediately squats. We refer to her as my trampy little stalker. She follow me everywhere & then bam, the minute I look down at her she squats. It is almost embarrassing.

I just have to look at my EE and she squats. She was the first to lay too, the baby of the group.

My BA does not squat and is not laying. I think she's a roo in hen's feathers

We started seeing this from our Australorp who just started laying this past Monday. My urban flock are all 19 weeks old right now and we couldn't really figure out why she was doing this although it makes sense after digging around a little. One of our SL Wyandottes also started doing this and she began laying on the same day.

After I pet them for a little bit they stop acting all squatty and are generally very calm. But like everyone else says... eggs are soon to follow. Grats!

And here I was worried that once they started laying they would be all grown up and not want petting anymore. Three of mine are doing the squat, and I have two eggs in two day, come on three!!
I was kind of worried when they first started squatting, I thought they were cringing, Thanks guys!

Is the heat going to delay things? I think we will hit 100 again today.

Thinks that you're a rooster and squats for mating? Oy! I thought that it was a defensive response (less vital bits in the wings and all... )

Great... now I know that my big, mean Rhodie wants me... *sigh* What can I say... I get all the chicks!
