You have quiet Wyandottes?? I didn't think that was a thing, lol. Mine never shut up. Their noise is so distinct, even my half Wynadotte mixes make the noise.

I've found that pullets that mature in the fall/winter tend to lay later than my spring babies. In the spring my babies lay right around the 20 week/4 month mark. But later season babies seem to lay closer to 6 months.

The trade-off is that later laying pullets tend to start right off with larger eggs. I have a very petite little EE girl who just started laying at 6 months and all of her eggs so far (maybe 5 or 6?) have been over 50 grams!

I have a Wyandotte that I got from a friend after she was injured and she hardly ever makes noise! It’s kinda sad as she has a really pretty voice. Then her daughter who is half Cochin is also very very quiet!

I wonder if color has anything to do with it (I'm sure there are a lot of factors, but this just got me thinking about all of my wyandottes). My first wyandottes were silver & gold laced. They're the loud mouths. Then I got a blue laced red and she was noisy, but not as bad as the silver & gold. Most recently I got a lavender and she doesn't sound or even really act like a wyandotte at all. She's quiet and very mellow whereas my others are super spunky/bossy. I jokingly accuse her of being a lavender orpington and someone just shaved off her comb, lol.

My babies from my silver laced and my blue laced are noisy, too, but the baby from the lavender is quiet. What color is your quiet girl?

My golden girls use to be quiet. Today when I went into feed and water them Nugget followed me around chatting away at me. I stopped tho check if we might have an egg and she walked up to me almost eye to eye and proceeded to chew me out for some offense that she precieved. Lol
