Squatting

Hey y’all! Do all chickens squat before they start laying? We have 7, 4 are squatting and 3 are laying. One of our EEs has been laying for two weeks now, but the other EE hasn’t even squatted! I found it odd since they’re the same age... is that normal? Our other 2 that haven’t squatted are the Silkie and the Barnevelder. I don’t expect much of anything from the Silkie, but I do wonder about the Barn. Our welsummer has been squatting for about a week but nothing yet. The anticipation is killing me!

Wow she’s beautiful!!!! Squatting means that there could be an egg in a week or 2.

I have 4 out of 7 pullets laying right now. For the most part they started squatting about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks before laying.

All of mine have squatted for me 10-14 days before laying, however not all pullets/hens will squat. I encourage them to do so by reaching for their backs as they get close to maturity.

I’ve got barred rock x Ayam cemani pullets and cockerels, they’re 19 weeks old, any idea when they’ll start laying?
