Hi All,
I have a 3 year old hen who started speaking about 2 weeks ago. I searched the site and found another thread where someone posted a video of a hen making exactly the same noise, but the thread was old and when I left a comment asking how it resolved I didn’t hear back. Here’s what I have tried so far:

examined her neck - seems fine
tried to see down her throat - couldn’t see much
made up some Vet RX and gave a couple does - no change
stopped by the feed store which is pretty knowledgable and asked for advice.

The feed store seemed to think she could be bound up, because of the squeaking.
She does squeak less at night in the coop, and seems to squeak more when I’m in the yard (maybe the excitement). She is eating, but does not come running for treats the way she used to. After about a week I noticed her comb and waddle looked paler, and then a couple days ago her ears turned white. She did lay some proper eggs when she came back into lay this season, but then with the extreme heat laid 4 tiny eggs and I think stopped. I only have one other chicken at the moment, she lays a green egg with very thin inconsistant shells. I have been finding about one egg a week in the coop with no shell and assumed it was my green layer but maybe it’s my squeaker. Would love any advice!! Thanks.

PS tried to add a video but for some reason, photos were the only option available.

Can you post a picture of her ?
Since posting I have also tried looking for a bound egg. I found nothing but went ahead and gave her a tums mixed with some sour cream. She ate some reluctantly. Before I could get her in a worm bath she passed what looked like some albumin with something in it. I have a photo but when I went back to pick it up (less than 20 seconds i swear!) some critter had taken most of it.

I have a squeaky chicken as well, been squeaking for a couple of weeks, and seems to be having a hard time breathing and not eating well. i've been putting VetRx on her face, helps some with her breathing and squeaking. :( don't know what this is.

Can you get video of her?

Upload video to youtube and provide a link.

Have you changed anything in your coop/run (need bedding, straw, closed up ventilation, etc.) or added new chickens recently?
Checked to make sure her crop is emptying overnight?
Looked in her beak for obstruction, mucous and/or canker?
Does she have mucous, bubbles in the eyes, etc.?
Have you ever had respiratory infection previously in your flock(s)?

I'll try to get video, but I think she might have ascites (sp) her belly feels full of water.

Have you changed anything in your coop/run (need bedding, straw, closed up ventilation, etc.) or added new chickens recently? No
Checked to make sure her crop is emptying overnight? she eats very little if anything for weeks. her crop is always empty, I think she has a hard time eating as she needs to breath.
Looked in her beak for obstruction, mucous and/or canker? nothing I can see
Does she have mucous, bubbles in the eyes, etc.? Nope
Have you ever had respiratory infection previously in your flock(s)? No I have 9 chickens total, 2 are 8, 6 are 5 (she is one of these) and 1 is 3. all the rest of the chickens are fine.

I think she has a hard time eating as she needs to breath.
So, she's in a constant state of respiratory distress?

Have you dewormed her?
Given an antibiotic?

You can try Tylan50 and see if that helps relieve her symptoms. Deworming with Safeguard may also help.

Hopefully we can see a video of her and understand a bit more.

What is her weight and general body condition like? What does her poop look like?

If she does have ascites, I wonder if something might be getting compressed and causing the difficulty breathing.
