SQUEEE!!! First egg!!!

Not from the buttons of course, but, my coturnix ladies just laid an egg! I can't believe how exciting this is, lmao. I'm going to test hatch the first week or two of eggs, to see if my A&M is a male and fertilizing the eggs.
Any recommendations on how long it takes before they lay fertile eggs, at the latest, if you have a male? I've heard people saying that the first ones are often infertile... But, I don't want to waste a bunch of edible eggs by tossing them in the bator if there's no male...

OMG. I was pulling each bird out and trying to see if I could feel eggs in the belly like you said, Niki. I left the A&M for last, and when I pulled the last lady out, he was making this crazy noise. So... I checked your thread, and if ONLY the roos make that crow noise (that Ike, the tux was doing in your video), then the A&M is a roo! I heard him the other night doing that, but he did it once, and I barely heard it in here, wasn't sure what it was, so I actually pulled the hunting knife from hubby's nightstand and went to investigate, thinking that someone was outside, lmao. Darned birds, making me look/feel like a moron. In my defense, it was like 1am, I was home with just the boys, and god only knows who/what could be making strange noises, lmao. *Puts on her Dunce hat*

Lol. And, the roo just had to confirm it today. I saw him "locked" with a hen. Now I know he's at least been mating, so the eggs should be fertile.

I keep checking the cage for more eggs, lol, it's almost as exciting as watching the hatcher.

Anywho, my golden roo hawn i never saw breeding. My hubby came up to see htem and hawn bred a hen. Now EVERYTIME he comes up Hawn will breed a hen. He wont breed a hen whenim around
