There has been a squirrel sorta hanging out with my chickens for a few weeks. The first time I saw the squirrel, the chickens were chasing it, but ever since then, every time I've seen the squirrel they have all been happily coexisting, sometimes picking through the grass only a few feet from each other. This has been the case for a few weeks now. But today, I was watching them when suddenly my bantam Brahma hen went for the squirrel, and the squirrel fought back! After a second or two of scuffling, the Brahma hens "best friend" who is an OEGB jumped. The 3 of them shuffled for another couple seconds before the squirrel retreated up the tree. When my rooster noticed the drama he came running to the hens but the squirrel was already up the tree at the point. It was kinda hilarious because I simply couldn't believe what I saw..... But, I am concerned about the idea that this could be going on all the time and I just never witnessed it until today. So, is this anything I should worry about? Could the squirrel actually hurt my chickens? Would love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences and if this is anything to worry about or not! Thanks
