Squirrels stealing quail eggs??

I keep some bobwhite quail in with my peacocks in a large "remodelled" corncrib. Monday I surprised a squirrel in the pen who quickly scaled up the inside of the pen about 10', squeezed out and ran away. I've had sporadic bobwhite egg laying...I havent had a pea egg in over a week also. Is that squirrel (or squirrels!) possibly stealing or eating eggs?

Agreed! Same with rats, apparently they carry off the egg whole, not snack on it in the nest !

Thanks...That's what I feared. Got one squirrel in a trap today & ironically my peahen rewarded my efforts with an egg in her nest Going to keep trapping to thin the squirrel herd as much as I can!
