I found this while looking for my evening eggs about 15 min ago. Each layer revealed a new egg-thing. I hang out with my flock multiple times a day and no egg is left in there over an hour. The one who laid this is one of the leghorn cross "Ideal" hens. She is almost 3 years old. She eats Layena feed with cooked shells fed back, some oats, and whatever hi-pro dog feed she can capture. She is also eating all the seed heads off the grass, some clover, wood sorrel, possibly some scarlet pimpernel, and for certain a few leaves off my papaya saplings. The weather has been around 92* for several days. I freeze juice jugs full of water and put them in the shade where the hens go cool off. She lives with 5 other hens and a gentleman rooster who really only wants to mate with my wellsummer. Please let me know what this is, what to expect, and what I should do, if anything. THANKS!
