Actually, as of the latest pics, about 7.5 weeks old. Here's what it looked like right out of the mailer from the hatchery:

And then at about 4 weeks, mixed in with the Buff Orps and a white Araucana:

And now, at almost 8 weeks:

And here it is with BO's of the same age, for size comparison:

I'm sure it's obvious to most of you, but we're clueless!

I've just spent an hour looking through every chicken site I can think of, and I can't find ANYTHING that matches this bird! Every time I think I do, it's "Oops, mine has YELLOW legs," or "Oops, mine was mostly yellow as a chick..."

What the heck is this thing?:o

lol ~ looks like you have a banty love child ~ a mix of several chickens ~ :-D
(we had a love-child as well, we named ours mystery meat, but I think she's turning into a gold-laced wyandotte.)

After I read your post, I Googled and found a pic of a 3-week-old silver LH chick, and it did look exactly like this one did at that age! I'm not having luck with the pics of older birds, since I have no idea of the gender of this one. Do you know of any decent pics anywhere?

Well.....I'm glad you found out what type of chick you have!!!!! I'm pretty sure it's a male.....MurryMcMurry Hatchery has some pics of full grown roo's.....Good Luck!!!!

I got this pic from Murry mcmurry.....hope it helps!!!! The older he gets the more he'll look like this.

Ha ha ha, my sister and I used to call that breed "Grandpa Rooster" because the roosters were all slim and colored silvery gray like an old man's hair (more specifically, our own quite skinny and lovable grandfather).

Those are cool! Please post more pics as he gets older!

Please note the white earlobes on the Leghorn and the red earlobes on your cockerel.
ps-I have no idea what he is-just what he isn't.
