I was at the country max for DE and they have a bag 9.99 of it by St. Gabriel brand, Oganics Diatomaceous Earth. red bag insect dust. The label says "pet safe". but warning says not or animals or humans or something like that. The St. Gabriel web site says it's ok.
What I'd like to know is if anyone has used it? Does anyone know anything about this brand of DE? It does not say food grade.

I havent used that brand but if it says not food grade then you cant use it as a 'wormer'. I use the non-food grade around my basement doors to keep out spiders and I dont worry if the chickens get a little bit while pecking around the house but if it isnt food grade then you cant mix it with their food.

Does that help?

I really just want it for mite prevention. To put in the nest boxes and for them to dust themselves in. I have some Sevin dust but I use that for beetles on my squash, I would prefer not to use it for dusting. As for worms there are more organic wormers.

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

Should be fine for dusting them
