St. Patty's Day Green Egg Hatchalong, Set 2/25

Set my eggs yesterday. Ended up with WAY too many. 18 were mailed, all different colors. 18 Barnevelders, six of which are blue-laced project Barnies! A dozen very low quality Marans, over half of which are pullet eggs. Two very high quality Marans. Turner in the bator holds 42. Tucked in the pullet eggs along the edges. Grand total set is 48. Strange how my original number planned of eggs I wanted to set went from 18 to 48. Chicken math?

Only 10 ended up being green/olive/khaki. Seven are blue, and the rest are various shades of brown.

my chicken math turned out to be the same as yours......I set 48 eggs!

I set 6 Khaki Campbell duck eggs and one indian runner egg (which is green

) yesturday, I bought them all at a local poultry market. Theyre duck eggs so they should take an extra week so not so sure if they hatch on St.Paddys day

St. Pattys day is coming up! I'm doing a special all green egg hatch. Any breed is fine, chicken, duck, quail, or emu. All different shades of green!

Set date is Feb 25th for chicken eggs
Set date is Feb 18th for duck eggs
(Set date for Emu was Jan 25th)

If anyone is interested in swapping green/olive eggs, let me know. I have enough layers to send 2 6+ all green egg swaps.
What a cool hatch along! Wish I had some green eggs.........sigh.

Oh my have over 60 eggs to hatch Is there a chicken hatching AAA ? Of course 1/2the wheaten egg won't hatch!!!!!! Excuses, Excuses I know !!!!!! Oh know just heard a hen cackle it might be a olive or blue egg. have to go now....LOL

Sweet!!! Sounds like the hatch I have going right now, too many for the turner, ended up stacking them! Where did you get your high quality Marans and are they Black Copper?

18 to 48 sounds about right, because 1/2 might not hatch, and half of what does hatch will be roos sooooo….
I got the high quality Marans from a lady who lives about 45 minutes away from me. Yes, they are Black Copper. 18-48 sounds great, until you realize that I can only keep six hens!

Luckily, I have people who will take the extra, including any roosters. If my hatch is good, then the hard part will be figuring out which six to keep!

Yeah for 48!

I don't know what size incubator you're using, if you've mentioned before, I apologize. If your eggs only fill a small portion of the bator, it's a good idea to provide 'sinkers' to keep temps consistent throughout.

Well, I wasnt abe to set until this AM, our power was going in and out all yesterday and last night with all this rain we've been getting. Rained all day (and I mean All day) Friday and Saturday, Sunday as clear, then poured again yesterday. Alot of roads and a few bridges are closed from flooding. :(

Anyways, I set about 5-6 dozen, I'll count when I get home. Most are blue/green or olive. Plus a some nongreen Malay, Ayem Cemani, Black Sexlink, Bantam Frizzle Cochin, and a few of my Leghorn's eggs. Her chicks will be dyed green :D .
