What a great idea I never even thought of vet wrap!! (I am hitting my forehead now!!)

I know what you mean about that feeling of not turning. If like you say the aircells are stable, then turn them gently.
I don't want to steer you wrong, so please ask others who are more knowledgeable in this.

I think I need to find a closer source for autosexing olive egger. I am in Texas, do you know anyone near me that has autosexing olive egger?
I dont think you will find an autosexing olive egger. I am not sure but I believe that the gene that dictates the autosexing capability does not transfer to a mixed breed which an olive egger is (brown egg x blue egg).

I have 24 shipped eggs arriving on Wednesday of this week and I am planning on resting them for 24 hrs., incubating and not turning for 6 days and then beginning to turn after that. There is a seller on ebay that has a great explanation for dealing with shipped eggs if you search 16 olive egger rainbow eggs on ebay you will find it. Good luck with your hatches and your experiments. Please post the results, you will fascinate alot of people.

Thanks for the info Oregankat
Yes, this is a pretty interesting expierenment!
I am glad Cot Cot is joining the expierement!
In regards to the autosexing Olive Eggers, I am just taking the info directly from Papa's poultrys website.
Now of course I am not sure if it will be just sexlinked OE or true Autosexing.
Right now I am down to 3 viable eggs, so this expierement will have to be done with a much larger batch of eggs, and I realize this.
Ahh, if only the husband and wife would have communicated!! (Story earlier in thread!)

Well I'll be..... absolutely right! Papas have been doing some cool stuff. I have been tempted by their lavender marans for a while. I have had success with their hatching eggs btw but I am only one state away so I get them the next day. Not sure how they fare to greater distances. He is always quick to respond to inquiries so perhaps ask if he sells the OE eggs. Good luck.

Yes, the eggs I am hatching now are his OE eggs. He packed beautifully, eggs arrived quickly, and he is VERY generous with xtras. Unfortunately the eggs had to travel from CA to Texas and that is a very long way. The brilliant workers at the USPS decided not to read the HUGE writing that said Hold at post office for customer pick up. I tracked the package, and of course being through this same scenerio before ran to the PO and tried to get it before it was on the delivery truck. (I also might add that in addition to all this I have a USPS account where I can request to hold the package at the PO, and of course I did that as well) I was too late of course. So the eggs traveled all day in yet another mail carriers truck.
Anyway long story short they had been through a lot, and I will be lucky if any hatch!
If they don't, so be it.
I already filed a claim because I was so mad about this once again.

I would love to be able to sex OE at hatch, however I think Papa's may just be too far away.

So I have been researching what to look for genetically speaking when searching for eggs.
As far as I understand, I need a solid colored rooster(BCM would be my choice), and a CCL hen for the barring and blue egg color for this to work. That of course would not give me autosexing, however I think it would give me sex-link chicks.

I looked on eBay and saw what you were talking about! I also saw she had 100% positive feedback! There was something that was histerical in her feedback. If you look on October 2017 this person said that the eggs could have survived a plane crash they were packed so well.
Not sure why I find this so funny, but I do!!

New thread just started 'sex linked olive eggers' the folks there are talking about just this subject and it happens that the eggs that I have in the bator now are the BCM / cream legbar cross (my own chickens) and apparently they will carry the sexlinked gene. Look at the thread for more info. Love BYC, I learn something every single day!

Funny you, entioned that. I just came across that same thread this afternoon.
Full of great info!
Now I just need to find the right seller!

True, but then I couldn't do my "research on SI".
I don't have a rooster right now, and I only have 1 olive egger who I bought from MPC last year. She is a CCL mix, and a total spaz!!
So basically I have to hatch out my own.
I am picky to say the least.
I have already been added to the hatching egg list for a BCM breeder here in Texas, so I am just waiting for the go ahead on that, and still lurking on eBay to buy some CCL eggs.
