stagered hatches in a cabinet incubator(Mine is a Dickie)

Quote:
get it up higher. up to 60 at least. otherwise, the eggs will stick to the chicks. especially the last ones to hatch.

So I should try to increase my humidity as I am running it too low at 50%? This is my first hatch with my new Dickie.I just received it two weeks ago.I put water in the pan and that keeps it at 50%.

sorry, we are posting simultaneously.

i run it at 55 - 58 first 18 days then up to 60 - 65 at least for the last days.

the humidity is increased by the surface of the water, not depth. you need to create more surface area. if you can fit another pan on the shelf, or a new sponge on a plate that would help.

That is what I will do.There is plenty of space where the pan that came with the bator is on the top shelve.

excellent. you will just get the humidity up and then if it goes too high, adjust the vent holes on the back of the unit. just very slight adjustments.

I would bump it up at least for the actual pip and zip.. but that is just me because that is where I have had most of my difficulty with chicks and geese.. they dry to the membrane and either I rescue them or they die..

this time around I am going to run 40 - 45% hum and bump it up to 60% for chicks and as high as I can for geese..
