I am on day seven of my hatch (orphs & silkies)
I will be adding 3 dozen (More orphs) on day 9.

I have never done a staggered hatch before, will the increased humidityfor a few days (lockdown) effect the second batch?
My first batch will be in the lower hatch portion of my bator, so the second batch can still be on auto turn during lockdown.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks!

awww c'mon, there must be some staggered hatch experts out there who could share some wisdom?

I honestly wouldn't know what to tell you since I'm new to this but my very first hatch was really staggered. There was eggs on all different days and I didn't know what to do. I left all the eggs in the incubator in an auto turner and kept the humidity all the same didn't change it at all and most of mine hatched just fine.

I do staggered hatches all the time, usually with different types too (ducks, turkey, quail, chickens, etc). I have pretty good hatch rates (with my own birds at least, shipped are always a gamble no matter what). If you have room, use dishes of water instead of the water trays. That way once everyone's hatched you can take them out and get the humidity back to normal fairly quickly.
