Staggered Hatch under a setting hen Got a chick question??

The hen won't die.

I was asking why the chicks were being taken from her when she can brood them better.

Now we know. The hen is not yours and you are just taking chicks from someone.

If the other eggs hatch within 2 weeks of the other after a couple days in the brooder to make sure the youngest ones are eating and drinking you can mix them together with no troubles.

i think the chance of the hen dying is slim....but anyway i think u did the right thing taking away the 2 oldest, otherwise she wouldnt sit the rest

Oh, I'm sorry, sweetie. I didn't mean to alarm you. My cousin had no experience with chickens either and I doubt he kept food and water near her to keep up her strength. I'm pretty sure that's what happened in her case. Ask the people with the hen to put food and water close to her so she can keep up her strength. Hope you get lots of chicks.
