Sounds like it's working out just fine for you!

I've done a bit of reading, and sanding with 80 grit sandpaper might also do the trick.. so I'm going to try that (with appropriate PPE, ugh PT!). Nothing to lose but a little more time!

If you have the time, it would probably be better to sand it, yeah. Ideally I would've given mine better treatment, but that was a LOT of wood surface to sand... Even with a power sander it would've taken me a very long time, and I was already pressed for time. So I'll have to hope it holds up.

Yeah, no way would I sand if it wasn't just a handful of 2x4s! And I think you'll be okay.. mill glaze seems to be from milling and/or planing, which are processes that I don't think your siding went through?

I only used PT 2x4's and 4x4's, so whatever processes those go through...

If you're going to clean it before staining, pressure washing might be the easiest solution. Sanding would be out of the question, IMHO.

I don't have a pressure washer, but I do have a little sander!

Ah... I see. Well, you were asking about your run, so I was talking about my run, too The run uses 2x4's and 4x4's. The blue siding on the coop is OSB. I used Behr waterproofing stain on both, the difference is that I used the solid color (blue) on the coop, and the semi-transparent stain on the run, because I was going for the natural look there - wanted the grain in the wood, and a dark stain to look more like tree bark. I didn't pre-treat anything before staining, and everything seems to be holding up fine so far (5 months).

Hehe, that makes sense! There were so many pages in the 2 threads I found, and yeah.. I was distracted by that pretty coop!

I don't think there's a as much 'milling glaze' on PT as the treating opens the surface grain back up.
