Stale chick feed!!!

That's just it. The dude there scooped it into a brown paper bag. How can I tell?
What did he scoop it out of?
A bag of commercially bagged feed....or....?

Eh, if I'm buying from the bulk bin section, I go by look and smell and decide from there if I want to buy it. If it smells good and you don't see signs of pests/issues around (rodent droppings, mold, maggots, etc) I'd buy it.
I guess that would be OK, if you know how they refresh or rotate what's in those bins.

I don't buy anything out of open bins! I did at one time, long ago, and then saw too many 'interesting' things in bins here and there, and old stuff, and general yuckiness, and won't risk it. Besides, who coughed into it recently?

How can i tell if my chick feed is stale? I bought it from a feed store.... Just wondering.
Why not call the store and ask what the date on the feed is? Seems the best way to resolve the problem, even if the feed store employee thinks that you're crazy (and he probably will. But who cares what he thinks?) If he doesn't know, time to toss, I think. If he can name a date within the past eight weeks, I'd use it.
