------------------------------------------------

When we moved out to the country we lost a few essential benefits that the 'burbs offered us. DH worked for the cable company and so we were used to getting the whole gamit of cable, tv and high speed internet for practically free.

It's been 3 years since we have moved here and I have recently been able to convince DH to let us make the plunge and get satellite.

We have a lot of trees around our house and we knew we would need to have a site survey performed prior to installation. Unfortunately none of the big name companies would do that for us - they just wanted to set up an install. I tried speaking to a supervisor who might have more pull, but no luck. They did however suggest that we contact one of their authorized dealers in the area and see if they could send a tech out for the site survey.

Long story short, I called the auth. dealer and the sales guy was really nice and helpful. He set up an appointment for the tech to come out and it was as simple as that. The tech came out, did the survey and then my husband intended to do the rest (with running cables, and setting up the concrete pole). We were going to call them back when we were ready to have the tech come back out for the official install.

Out of the blue the sales guy from the week prior starts calling me and leaving me voicemails. Two vmails went through and the rest were hang ups and tv buzz in the background. All total yesterday we counted that this guy left us over 7 phone calls in a matter of three hours!

The last straw was when DH answered the phone this afternoon and it was the sales guy again today. DH told him I wasn't home and instead of handling the call, like a ding dong DH said he'd have me call him back. Literally moments after DH hung up, the guy calls back. DH answered again and said, you just called here man, I'll have her call when she gets home. Guy hangs up, and calls back... and back... and back. WEIRD! Finally DH calls the guy at the number he's calling from and it turns out it's from this guy's father's residence. FREAK! ((Shudder))

DH did some investigative work on the public records and discovered this guy is a 5 time convicted felon for some kind of money embezzelment theft something-or-another. Now I'm nervous. DH is calling this guy's work tomorrow and speaking to the owner. Still, what makes me nervous is the stalker/sales guy has my house information and DH works nights.

Can I come stay with one of you guys?!?

yes yr right stalkers are scary

Pickychicky that's REALLY SCARY.

Is this with Hughes net? I know they use sub contractors to come out, but first complain to the company you are buying the system from, then, get the number for the actual company that is doing the install, call them if possible, make sure he is not the one that will be doing the install. Check that contractor out through any and all legal means (BBB, St Licensure) and of course, do not be alone when anyone comes out to work on your place. I am even thinking, maybe have a few people over.

Do you have an early warning system like a barking dog?

Yes, you can come stay with me, but gosh darn it, be safe now.

Oh make sure you tell the authorized dealer that you are aware they hire convicts and you are not comfortable with their business decisions. Again, if it is Hughes net, call them and tell them to find you another dealer. I live wayyy out in the sticks, I use Hughes net and I am pretty happy with it, but the service techs have definitely been on the creepy side.

YES, YES, YES. Never to early to start the ball rolling and get a report started, if it comes to nothing, yeahhh, but if you need the police, there is a report of it.

Please be safe

I had an ex as a stalker once.....after I already had a restraining order against him and he had already been arrested he was following me one day. I ran into a lawyers office that was friends with my grandpa and we all watched him circling the block. The lawyer called the police and they arrested him right there. He ended up serving a year in jail over it. Thankfully he moved out of this town after he was released.

I agree. File a report and a complaint to the company. I had to deal with something similar recently. Luckily it was resolved without getting the police involved. It is scary when someone is stalking you on the internet, in real life, at your kids' schools, etc. Makes you feel very violated and vulnerable.

You'd think that he'd have given up when your DH answered the phone...twice!

These people are disturbed. I think that the company should be held liable for giving a convicted felon your personal information!

Stay safe and keep us posted!

A true stalker is a very dangerous person. You should have already made a police report, even by phone, giving them the exact name of the person, where he works, when he was there, when he started calling, how many times he's called, how many messages, how many hang ups, where he lives, etc. You can mention what you found in public records but that is not always a good reliable source, they are accessed by anyone and some can be changed. I've dealt with a very serious and dangerous stalker in the past; you don't wait, you start your paper trail immediately as in several hours ago. Be safe.

You guys are the best support system a gal can have!

I'm actually married to an officer - so that's one step in the right direction I guess?

He's the one that'll be calling the owner tomorrow.

It wasn't HughesNet (on a lighter note, I haven't been that lucky to convince DH that we can afford faster than molasses internet)... it was an authorized dealer for both Directv and DishNetwork.

I have 1 noisy German Shepherd... but that's about all she is. She might lick an intruder to death. My chickens could probably do more harm than she could, but then again maybe she'd surprise me if the moment called for it.

We've got my pick of the litter in 'home security', but I'm afraid if that day ever came, I'd be so scared I'd shoot myself in the foot or forget the safety. Excuse me Mr. Stalker, can you remind me which one is the safety? Seriously though, I think I could figure it out in time.

DH may win his case with getting an opener & locking mechinism for the front gate. Next Friday we'll be putting up the ADT alarm signage (my Mom is giving me hers from her old house she sold). Hehe... maybe that will help.

As for this phone stalker, I'm hoping all will be OK and that I am just overreacting to his phone stalking. I would've felt better not knowing the criminal history though. Ignorance can sometimes be bliss. He would have to make quite a trip to our place, and to my knowledge our road isn't on a map...yet. But then again, I did give him driving directions for the driver/tech..... darn.

I'll keep you guys posted after DH's call tomorrow.
