Stalling donkey at fair in the cow barn?

So im the president of our 4H fair and it was brought to our attention that the people who run the fair grounds dont really want us to keep our horses over night at the fair grounds, and are making it very difficult to house them their. So being the president i thought i would be spread thin and decided to cut my losses and give attention to the whole fair. But I still really wanted to show but don't want to be running between the fair and home transporting my horse. So I thought that I would show my donkey at the fair, which is totally legal, shes a mini so we are only going to do showmanship (my fave class). So with that said, they will allow us to keep our horses in the cow barn, but the only problem i see is that the floor is cement. So if i was thinking if i were to put a layer of straw down like 3-6 in and then another layer of shavings about the same amount as the straw it would be enough cushioning for the her?

I'ts not necessary to go through all that. A deep bed of straw alone will be sufficient. If you had rubber mat to put down, then shavings would work well. I've worked in plenty of barns that have concrete flooring. It's not that horrible and it's way easier to clean/sterilize!

Thats what I would do it a rubber stall mat then hog fuel or straw.

Why are cow people so hateful to the horse people when it comes to fairs? Cow mess is so much worse then horse!

haha, We dont have an issue with the cow people, i guess the horses stalled out side do more damage to the ground then all the horses tied to the trailers? Idk!

My worry would be that it's so easy to slip on wet concrete, especially for an animal that isn't used to that surface. It's always sad to get an animal all cleaned up for the big day only to have to go in to the show ring with a big abrasion!
I've never heard of fairs being difficult to horse owners, but then it's been a long while since I showed at a fair. I recall them being very adamant that we DID house the horses there for the duration, because people like to walk around the barns and look at the beautiful horses. Is it because they overgraze the grounds?
