Last summer I raised 3 Bantam Cochins, 1 of them reddened up quite early and had a larger comb/wattles and a more upright stance than the other two. I was thoroughly CONVINCED that it was a roo.....months went on, the comb and wattles were still bigger than the other 2.....I kept waiting for some crowing.....but, I got an egg instead![]()
And that's why the old timers are like "you'll know when they crow or lay an egg".That's funny! Quite the opposite happened to me with a LF cochin I have. The comb had no color to it the wattles started turning reddish long before the comb did. Everyone thought he was a she but he is a he...![]()
