**STANDARD Cochin Thread for Posting Pics and Discussing Them**

I love Cochins. Standard and Bantam. I have 2 Standard and 2 Bantam. The two Standards are Lemon Blue I do believe. And the two Bantams are Buff and White.

I'm getting 12 Bantam Cochins and 3 Standard Cochins April 19th from McMurray Hatchery. I can't wait.

Post pics...Tell stories.....Whatever. But only about STANDARDS please.

We must have a bird with a true blue gene, we have gotten a few lavender chicks from our stock...They are the most beautiful color....

My Gold Laced Cochin, one of two I have. They're great birds for Alaska with their feathered feet.

Jerry - Black Rooster. He is a Show quality boy. His tail feathers are messed up from breeding. He was running around with the ladies and he was really "active".

Noel - Black Hen. Great Show record at sanctioned shows not fairs. She is now retired from shows.

Noel will be 4 years old in June and Jerry will be 3 in August. I also have a splash and 2 more black hens(twins) that are show quality. Their rears were trimmed a couple weeks ago for breeding. Now 1 of the twins in broody and Noel is clucking. I need to hatch quite a few of their eggs this summer to replenish the flock and let the older one enjoy retirement.

I am thinking of getting some Cochins but I'm not sure if I want Bantams or Standard Cochins. What is the difference as far as egg production and personality?
