Standard cochins from Ideal hatchery

I lost one of my silver laced at 3 days old. It peeped a lot before then. All the others are doing great. And losses are why I ordered 2 of each pullet, just in case.

Mine still haven't arrived. I expected them this morning but the post office didn't get them. So tomorrow they should be here unless something happened during shipping. Hopefully they'll still be alright after being out for 3 days.

weird for ideal to take so long. Maybe they had a issue with enough of a breed hatching or something which delayed shipping enough hours to not make that day's post..just a idea.

Hope they arrive safely

Still no chicks again today.

We're calling Ideal in a little while and depending on what they say, such as if they had a delay and they actually weren't shipped Monday, we're just going to ask for a refund and get our chicks locally. The only reason I ordered from Ideal was because our Tractor Supply had a meltdown. They were supposed to get them on the 20th of Feb (which was a holiday), and still didn't have them for another week. I thought we'd get ours sooner from Ideal. But we stopped in at TSC last week and they have/had what I want, so we're doing that instead. I know it's probably not Ideal's fault, most likely USPS, but they still never came. So instead of losing more chicks in the mail, we'll get some we can hand pick and drive home ourselves.

I did just go back through my emails and I received a "Your poultry order has shipped" email (actually, 3 for some reason) when they shipped, so if you didn't get that I would assume they did not ship.

I actually got 5 emails saying they shipped. But GOOD NEWS! They did come today. We got the call at 9:15 this morning, and of course, I was right in the middle of feeding critters on a friends farm. My brother picked them up for me. We got 19 total and all arrived alive, but one Sebright died about an hour after we got it home. We tried saving it but it was too far gone. Had they been here yesterday, it probably would've been fine. But I can't complain because I expected deaths, especially since they took so long to get here. We have 7 Barred Rock packing peanuts, 10 Cochins, and 1 Sebright. All seem to be doing great now! We got the cutest dark red partridge Cochin. Such a doll! I have yet to get a picture though. But for now, here's the remaining Sebright in front and some of the others.
