We have a bantam Easter egger rooster, who has mated with a variety of standard chickens. Does anyone know the size tendency of the babies? Would they lean more standard or more bantam?

I had no idea they could be as big! This will be funHatching size: standard from standard eggs, bantam from bantam size (because the egg determines the size of chick at hatch.)
Mature size: probably midway between the sizes of the parents, but you could get a few as small as their bantam father or even larger than their standard sized mothers.
When you cross two standard sized chickens, it's fairly common for the chicks to grow larger than either parent. And I read of someone who crossed two breeds of bantams and got standard-sized offspring.I had no idea they could be as big! This will be fun![]()
