standard of perfection alternatives

So i wanna show poultry and i want to know what the specific appearance and all that stuff should be of my chcikens to do well in the show. So has anyone heard of anything to figure this info out rather than spending a lot of money on the actual book?

If you go to a very reputable show breeder you could ask them to evaluate their offerings to you. In doing that they would stress what points are important in the standard. If you only plan to breed/show one breed of chicken it would be best to have the SOP and learn it backward and forward.

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! The Standard of Perfection is so packed full of information, that there really isn't an alternative to it. If you want to be successful at showing chickens, I would recommend just buying the Standard of Perfection.
