This is the link to purchase the Standard of Perfection.

As you can see, you can either purchase the color edition for $59, or the black and white edition, for $14. I myself purchased the black and white edition, and am perfectly happy with it. If I need color pictures, either BYC or Feathersite, is full of far more color pictures than are in the SOP. So if you are serious about your birds, you should consider purchasing this book.

Me too, it's due out... They're behind their "should publish sched." but they tend to be. Probably trying to sell most of what they have printed already of the old one.

Yeah, but part of the problem with drawn pictures is that they are the interpretation of the artist. Six of one, half dozen of the other really. A photo will not show a perfect bird, but you at least see what a 'real' bird looks like, and a painting shows closer to idea type and does not usually reflect show room fads.

I'm also waiting for the new color version to come out. Anyone have any idea when that will occur?

I'm getting the black and white first for "work" and I'm getting the colored later when budget allows because I used to be able to DRAW I miss it and it's soooooo pretty.

Laura thinks having both is weird but I just gotta. The artist in me loves those drawings something fierce and color adds such nice detail.

For many years I have collected APA and ABA Standards and own all ABA and most APA.
If I was told that I could only own 1 Standard, it would have to be the 1980 B&W version. The artwork is the best and I love the compact size.
I have many others that are sentimental favorites but for all around use the 1980 is the best. Unless you have some new breed or variety.

The new APA Standard is suppose to be out this fall in time for the APA Nationals.
