Staples vs Screw and washer...what to do, what do to!!?

They keyword is "pneumatic". The lever guns are worthless in wood as far as strength goes. Since I didn't have any power
at the site, I went with a battery operated screw gun and tek screws. A stronger application is 1 1/2" deck screws through
fender washers.

If you use "U" staples used for fencing you will be fine. They are hammered in and WILL NOT pull out. You can get them a TSC, feed stores, or farm stores. You can then also put a plank over them if you want to hide em. They are FAST, easy, and very reliable..IMO

Bolton is right, pneumatic stapler is the way to go, one of those little hand powered ones won't have hardly any withdraw strength at all.
One other thing to keep in mind, if your stapler has a variable depth gauge, set it so the staple is not set very deep into the wood. If it penetrates too far it might weaken the wire at that point. If your stapler does not have an adjuster, you can lower the pressure on your compressor by ten to twenty pounds to bet the same result.

I should've clarified....I did it with a pneumatic stapler using 1" staples I didn't use a manual stapler...does that make a diference? Fof what is worth....I couldn't remove it with my own hand I had to use tools......thoughts??

So I started putting some of the hardwire cloth up today. I had planed to used screws with washeres on them to put it up, however, I remembered that the nailgun I bought to put up our molding and trim at the house can also be used for staples. It uses 1" - 18 gauge - 1/4 crown staples....and I have lots of them!!! I used it in one side so far and it was not only very quick but it looks secure. I must add I didn't go cheap on them...I used them about ever 4" to 6" and some times 2 or 3 staples around the same spot (in "critical areas such as corners etc).

So the questionis: Is ok for me to only used those staples? (1" - 18 gauge - 1/4 crown staples) Or should I also use screws????

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions.

You can look at what I have done so far on my coop here:

Juan-n-Only, I was just about to post this same exact question. Has your wire held up okay with your staples and supplement screws? We just built our run and after looking at the poultry staples and hammer, the pneumatic stapler with 1" - 18 gauge - 1/4 crown staples seems like such an easier way to go, but in the end, I just want the chicks safe. I guess we'll do what we have to do. Just curious if you're happy with the way yours turned out and if it's held up okay? Thanks so much.
