All Chantecler eggs. I already have a 30+ flock so the 25 eggs seems a lot. I count on 50% live hatch and 50/50 female to male ratio.

My original birds are 3-5 years old. These are to replace older layers particularly for the coming winter. My target layer flock size is 24, producing a dozen eggs per day, content with winter slowdown. I expect to do annual hatches.

My hatch occurred over the past two days - very good result with 19 of 25 live chicks, my best.

It is obvious that I chose more than Chantecler eggs, next hatches will be done with eggs from a breeding cage. Last two pics show the chicks in their brooder, home for next 4 weeks

Just past 4 weeks and integration with the main flock needs to happen. Yesterday a chicken savvy friend choose all males and I moved them to a separate cage where they will remain for some weeks.

The division revealed 11 of the 17 remaining chicks are males. Of the 6 remaining, 4 are Chants and 2 Barred Rock/Chantecler mixes. Not what I had hoped but any increase in my Chantecler hen population is positive.
