Started eggs today! 3/30/12! Hatchalong anyone????

Alright, so I discarded 6 of the 11, and cracked them open. Nothing was growing in those. Now the 5 left are veiny, but very loose, and I am not sure if that is normal or not. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

So I have 5 eggs that will go on lockdown tuesday! Not having a good feeling about them though... so we will see. But I have like 80 eggs in my bators, half due the following week and the other half the week after that.

Yeah, I'm down to 6 going into lockdown on Tuesday from the original 16. I pulled out 2 more quitters tonight. But I have lots more due the week after! I wish I knew what was causing all my early quitters. These last 2 died in the last 2 days, so either day 12 or 13. I've never had a problem with this before.

how do you know they are dead?

Most of my quitters wound up with blood rings. But I did pull one last night that didn't have a blood ring. I could see a fully formed chick inside, but all the veins are gone, and it's not moving at all. It seems like it's stuck to the side of the shell? I've never experienced this before. But I'm positive it's dead because it doesn't look anything like the others, which having lots of veins. I should probably do an egg-topsy to know for sure, but I never have the stomach to do those.

Can you still see veins in your eggs? Mine don't always move unless I watch them for a really long time. I think if you have veins you're ok. Plus try to take note of how big they are, to be sure they're growing. If one had died, it'll be noticably smaller than the living ones within 2-3 days.

Well, I am entirely unsure about these eggs... They seem on par for what they are suppose to look like at day 16. I pulled a couple more outta my crap hova bator that didn't look fertile. I only weed out the eggs I can see inside of really well. I think once all is over Imma be on my way to becoming a candling expert!
