Started my coop today!!

Another update.... worked on the wire in the run the other day, have that finished, and even let the chicks roam in it some while I finished it.

Took 11 of them back to the farm the eggs came from yesterday... and have a suspected 3 more!

2 of the 3 we have still now, are so crazy friendly, I am going to try to find good homes for them. (of course we are still hoping eggs fall out their ass!)

These to come racing over to be held any time you reach in their pen... and enjoy people time.

Its 1" welded hardware cloth from Lowes. (the door is 1"x1/2")

I used 'romex staples' to fasten it... and its stapled every 5" or so.

I need to finish the coop first!!

I am not sure if I will do the rain barrels, since I have little use for the water right now. From what I have read, its not safe to give to the chickens.... and I have no garden to water at this point.

Thanks everyone for the compliments... I have WAY more $$ in this than I should have... but I dont think I will have problems with my neighbors LOL

Here are some detailed pictures of the run...

I bought some top soil to fill in and level out the ground in the run, as well as mulch on the outside. Had I known about this 'year old' mulch when I got the top soil, I probably would have just used the mulch in both places.

Here is some detail as how I worked the Hardware Cloth around the roof brackets that I used.

Here you can see, I used romex staples, about every 4-6"

When I put the nailer in for the bottom of the siding on the end of the run, I didnt think to lay it flat on its side... oh well, this seems to have worked.

Here you can see the cloth on the door

Hard to see in this picture, but there is green vinyl coated 2x4 welded wire laying on the ground. Its stapled (again romex staples) every 4-6" to the 4x4 frame on the bottom of the run, and layed on the ground. It extends 24" and is covered with weed barrier cloth, staked down, and will be bured with mulch.

This picture shows the electrical boxes... 2 for motion 'porch' lights, and one for incoming power/outdoor outlets.
