Started my first hatch 6/16, think I fried them already.

You can find a Hovabator on ebay or incubatorwarehouse.com for about $40.00 and since you already have a turner. I would look for a Pc fan to install. That way you can save your self $88 and at the same time you could sell your LG and you should break even, or better yet come out ahead.

I'm not sure i could figure out installing the fan- I am not at all technically inclined, and my husband is even worse. How hard is it to do the fan kits?

I have an LG that I have had many hatches in. A couple of things I have discovered is that when I adjust the temperature I only need to turn it a very slight hair and walk away for awhile until it stabilizes. Also I had a hard time regulating the humidity at lock down so I started putting a wet sponge in and that helped to bring my humidity up for hatching. I know there are a lot of LG haters on BYC but I did the same thing and bought the LG originally as I wasn't sure if I wanted to get into hatching. Now I use it as a hatcher as I have an cabinet incubator. (now I'm a hatch-a-holic)

I candled two eggs last night, just out of curiosity. The one had a dark round-ish portion at the top of the egg- is this the air cell? It wasn't a ring, like a blood ring, but what looks like maybe the yolk is up there? The other looked like an Oreo cookie. Dark on the ends with a small lighter band in the middle portion of the egg. I've looked at pics, and haven't seen anything that looks quite like it.

Squishypuff, I did the same thing with two of my eggs last night. I noted the same dark area you describe one your eggs as having in both of mine. It is just day 3 so I'm not sure what it is, but I'm interested in hearing from others too. When I first put them in the incubator it was all clear. So maybe that means something is growing and I still have a chance to get some chicks.
