started our flock today!!!

we were gifted 6 hens today by a very dear friend! our little flock has started!!! the rest will be here in the fall!
these ladies are kinda goofy, we went out tonight and they were all sitting on top of one another while on top of a chest freezer
(thats where i am storing their feed.... maybe they knew LOL)



















anyway the kiddos were thrilled beyond words, mommy too!!! sorry, i know its so picture heavy, this is something i have wanted for years

That is great news!!! Starting a flock is a very exciting day. Chickens are a joy to keep and you'll absolutely love these birds!

i have to admit when we went out and i found them huddled like that, i took much joy in picking each one up individually. i kinda gave them a hug with a little pat on the head and them placed them on the roost. i told my husband he might find me out there hugging the birds every evening LOL

he replied he was concerned he might find me out there eaten by the flock... stinker!!!
