The Omega Rocks: The Last & Ultimate Barred Plymouth Rock Flock

Pics
Here are some photos today and a video. There is a picture near the end of some poop left by Tally this morning and of her as well. Not looking too great still, is she? Most of the pictures are also at the end of the video itself, but if you didn't want to watch there, they are posted by themselves here.

Poor sweet Tally. ❤️ Get some pink back in there, girl!

I know, right? She looks so sad. You can see how all the others are in glowing health. I have no idea what on earth she came into contact with, but though she is eating and drinking fine, she just looks awful and I don't see much of a future for her at this point. We'll keep providing supportive care, of course.

Thanks, Lisa. Me, too. We're giving her every chance to recover.
It's so strange she's holding on this state. Usually they get better or die pretty quickly. Makes me wonder if it's a birth defect of some sort, like something wrong with her kidneys, or other organ.

I also always think about the chicken I read on here that had a crop full of string and they didn't know until afterwards. Chickens will swallow all kinds of things they can't digest. Takes a while for them to die from that type of thing too.

It is odd, for sure. She is better than she was but isn't improving further. I can't imagine what she could have gotten hold of. I do think she had a bacterial infection, which likely resolved itself with the antibiotic course because of how much better she seemed afterward. But it's two steps forward and three back with her. I don't feel much of anything in her crop. She did pick at the plain Greek yogurt and the few pieces of raw beef liver I showed her. I was going that for Maddie, but Tally was interested in eating it. What chicken ignores something that looks raw and bloody, LOL?
I haven't put her out on range, but I may do that today so she can maybe eat some natural forage. The catch is that I can't leave her out there by herself and I doubt Bash will go out there with her. He sits a lot and doesn't seem to have any interest in leaving the pen.
If Tally did swallow something that is still in there, there's nothing I can do about it, unfortunately. I don't think that's the case, at least as far as undigestible stuff. Whatever is wrong, I have a feeling it's beyond my power to fix at this point. All the others are doing so well and they all were free ranging in the same exact areas when she began looking unwell.
It really could be a defect that I am unaware of, as you mentioned. That does happen and maybe the timing of her coming into lay just ramped up her demise.

I think you have done all you can for her Cynthia. The fact that she continues shows she got some life yet to live. It is frustrating to watch and know you can't do much else.
I think so, too, Lisa. I hate not being able to fix this for her, but if there is anything I have learned over the past 20 years, some things are not fixable.
Bash is being really nice to her and she hangs around him when they're outside so both have company for now. I hate losing one of only four pullets, but you win some, you lose some.
