Hi Hugh, I usually get my feed here in town at the place off commercial way near hwy 1. They quit selling Layena, I thought my birds like that better.
I have some mixed BRs and some other mutts that I incubated and now love even if they are not pure breds, started with 7 but four of them turned out to be roos. presently I have 3 hens and 2 roos all living as a happy flock. Yesterday I hatched what I believe to be some sort of cochin(?) or smthing.
General Feed and Seed in Santa Cruz is a great store and they have chicks every spring.
Oh boy, you are keeping it weird in SC with mixed bird breeding.
So far, our family is eating all the eggs so there won't be any mixed chickens born around here anytime soon, but if you are interested, in the spring I can give you a couple of my fertile eggs to hatch that would either be pure Blue Cochin or Cochin/Dominique cross, assuming that I still have Ricky...as long as he remains a good boy.
