I recently got some started pullets, but they are not laying yet, atleast not in there new home. How old is a typical started pullet, (atleast several of them are bantams and I think they may be full size) and how close are they to laying? (in other words, at what age would someone call a bird a Started Pulled vs just a Pullet).

Thanks
Jamie

Jamie,

I have read that started pullets are about 17 weeks old, but then I'm a newbie, so I could be wrong.

If they are about that age, I would expect they'd start laying anytime now and surely within the next month or so.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm giving out bad info.

From a local auction. Seems like most of the birds were from small farms and hobbiests.

Thanks
