started the coop, hitting it hard today!

Finally stopped raining today! Here it is so far. Trying to use as much 'recycled wood' as we can. It is going to be 8'x6'x7' with an 8'x14' run. Floor is wired with heavy duty 1/2" wire, and buried. It will have windows on all four sides (3 crank outs, one fixed which will be over the exterior nest boxes, but we will have a vent under that fixed window above the nest boxes, that can be closed off if needed in cold weather). We will be putting blackjack 47 over floor when it is all together and then painting the interior, as well. And using old fence panels to 'shingle' the sides and painting them to match our house (red, black and grey). Back will of run will be wired, and then covered in an 8' fencing panel. All will be wired. Roof of coop will be shingled, run will be corrugated, both slanted back towards woods. Roof will overhang on all sides so water does not run down walls (may even put a gutter in...lol) It will be wired with a GFI box with wired buried underground so if/when I do need electricity, I will have it. Roost will run the full 8' front to back. The area below the coop will be wired, and also covered with lattice and panels will be made that can be put on in cold weather to keep wind/snow out, as well.

Looks great.

Thank you. Never did one before (and hubby, who is a carpenter, laughed, as this is a new one on him. But I told him I wanted to do it this way, so we are!) He did some more work, but batteries died, so need to grab more.

Thank you! (hubby and I were joking, in its current state, looks more like a 'jail' than a coop! lol)

So much more to do, but happy we are on our way. Still have a few weeks before they can go outside (it is going down into the 20's here tonight...bbbbrrrrrrrr, so glad they are still inside!)
