Nice looking coop!

If it was me, I would not use the round dowels for roosts.
2 X 4's with the 4 inch side up would be much better.

Chickens do not perch like other birds. They will if they have to, but their feet are not designed to do that, and they need to be able to sit on their feet while roosting to keep their toes from frostbite while roosting in winter.

Looking good. I would ditch the dowels for roosts. Use a 2 x 4's. It looks really great though, you are doing a great job.

Being an electrician, is it going to be wired for a light and/or heat source?

Ok Thanks, I wasn't sure about the roosts and dowels. We have 2 parrots so I just Sort of assumed thats how it was done. Plus thinking about droppins falling.

Being an electrician, is it going to be wired for a light and/or heat source?

Hopefully by the end of summer it will be. We just bought the house about 8 months ago, So I have all kinds of other things to do first.
I lost my Job in Feb. due to all this ecinomic slow down.
If I had my way, I'd have an 800 amp service and this place lit up like Christmas Vacation all year long, Ponds, Landscape lighting, you name it.

Copper Prices are Real Steep now and the run is probably 150'.

Thanks for the Tips.

We went to a Festival in the Park for dinner. Instead of the babies going inside they were all cuddled up out front.
The run I need to re-work The chickens got here from Nj. before I was able to get the run ready, So I had to put it up in a hurry.
Thanks for all the Tip's-N-Tricks

I'm glad you changed the roosts out.
About your babies not going inside, it might take a bit to get them used to doing that. Can you put a temporary light in the coop? They look pretty young to be without a "night-light".
Even a battery operated light would work. They don't know where "home" is yet, so they won't go in by themselves to a dark coop.

You still might have to put them in a few nights, and on the roost, to get them used to roosting.

If they still huddle, you might have to put some sort of heat source in for them until they completely feather out. I don't know where you are, so I don't know about your night temps.

Looks great! Are you going to cover the outside run with wire to protect from hawks, etc?

You did a great job with your coop! You chickens are so cute. When I moved my girls out they huddled in a corner of the run for two nights. So every night I check on them and the first two nights I gently moved them into their beds and by the third night they went to bed on their own. If only my children were that easy to trane.HAHA
