Order from an online hatchery. Like Meyer, or My Pet Chicken.

Order the 25 now. Get a nice selection of colorful layers. Sell the extras on CL for $5 each. It will cover your costs and provide free chicks for you. You could also raise them to 12-16 weeks and sell them for $15-20 depending upon your market. Buying now gives you a great selection and gets you eggs by June/July.

Good luck with your coop build! Maybe you can find a friend or neighbor that would like to split a hatchery order of chicks with you?

There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around the run. Good luck with your order. I hope you find a solution. :fl
