Starter feed -v- layer pellets

My girls are 12 wks old. Today while at TSC, which is quite a distance away, instead of getting chick starter, I came home with layer pellets. I had several errands to run and was not paying close enough attention to what I was buying. I know that layer pellets should not be given until they start laying but at 12 wks, is it too early to start giving them these pellets or am I going to have to make that trip again tomorrow?

you can check pet store or wal-mart.. they also have chicken feeds available

or you can use this site to find a buyer club or feed store in your area.. some farm or nursery will have chicken feed available as well

layer feed has higher % of calcium which can be damaging to a chick's kidneys.. so it's up to you to decide
