Lavender Araucana? You sure you don't mean Lavender Ameraucana? As far I know, there aren't Lavender Araucana in the U.S.
Please research breed standards thoroughly and be diligent about selecting your breeding stock.

When breeding for production, are you trying to keep the birds pure or doing crosses?

RIR over White Rock makes a good brown egg layer.

And the ideal white layer would be a well bred White Leghorn.

But if crossing, make sure to choose the Rooster and hen with the best traits for breeding stock, which can be achieved through linebreeding.

Attempted crossing and didn't like results. Keeping these pure breeds

I joined this thread late, so don't remember who posted what--but in answer to the question: Can you make money off poultry its a simple yes. You need a sound marketing plan, good quality products that are in demand and a farm to table approach.

I asked the question. I do not see how you can make money raising chickens. Not on a small scale. I can't even sell them for the feed costs.

PM me and we can discuss in a private forum. Don't get me wrong, its not without challenges... The real issue becomes how small is small.
