I am just starting out a new flock and could use all the help I can get. I have ordered 25 chicks and will get them in march. So I need to learn all I can between now and then.

I am getting 5 of each, Australops, Black sex links, Jersey giants, Bard rocks and light Brahmas.

I have helped with chickens before and have a farming background. But I could use all the help I can get

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Twenty-five birds is a large first time order. You will need a very large brooder for them. You want at least 1 sq ft per chick until they are about 3 weeks old, then the size should be doubled.
I would also strongly recommend you convert an old shed into a coop. You want to shoot for 1 sq ft of permanent ventilation, 1 linear foot of roost space and 4 sq ft of floor area per bird. You'll need 1 nest box per 4-5 hens. You'll want additional ventilation for summer months.

I have my dads coop it’s 8ft x 10ft with a 36 x 36 fenced in yard
