Starting about 18 BCM eggs tonight. March 24th /25th hatch

Good morning everybody.

kvmommy, I'm so sorry for your little chick. It's so hard to watch them when they aren't doing well and you know there's nothing you can do for them. And it's hard for me to accept that not every chick is destined to hatch and live... even when they've made it so far.

I'm up to 5 in the bator this morning. 4 bought eggs and 1 of mine. Just one pip left in one of my eggs that progressed a little bit overnight. I'm a little worried that this is all I'm going to get since there haven't been any new pips since yesterday morning. 8 of the other 9 eggs remaining looked great going into lockdown, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't hatch. I think I'm going to grab the chicks out this morning since it seems like it might be awhile if any of the others do hatch.

Does anybody have pictures of their chicks? Emmalion, do you have any chicks yet from those pips???

I have good news to report this morning. I have one hatched and the other two are working there way out. One looks a little sticky but I am sure she will be just fine.

OK pic time

Oh fun. I have some color crosses from my last hatch and I love staring at them to try to figure out what on earth they're going to look like when they grow up!

bummer...that little one didn't make it...

but i'm glad the others were okay...

i got two pips (the crack the chick makes trying to get out right?) I found that at 6:38 this morning...how long before you see anymore progress because it's awfully quiet in there..

Grats everyone! ITs gonna be an exciting day for you guys. I woke to a total of 16 hatched chicks! I have two zipping as we speak. I can't believe what a good hatch this is. Only two of my paid for eggs hatched so far, but theres a welsummer thats been rocking for days, so i'm hoping, but at this point it doesn't look too good. I really wanted a dark egg layer. I got a few EE's and Jersey giants mostly. They're beautiful. I ended up helping one out last night, it was one of the first to pip and after 42 hours I stepped in to help, he was the one that pipped the small end. I really didn't think he would make it, it was gasping and making a clicking noise with his breath not opening his eyes. He was soooo shrink-wrapped, and he kept bleeding when I worked on him, but at 3 am last night I had to take scissors to the outter membrane because it was soooo dry, and the inner membrane wasn't bleeding so I got him mostly out of the egg. There was noooo room for him to work at the small end. He just couldn't turn around at all. I thought I had waited too long, but this morning I couldn't tell him apart from the rest of the babies!! When I opened the incubator to get 9 dry babies out of there, because they were wracking havoc to the other chicks a baby jumped out and fell all the way to the floor.

He seems fine, but I'm worried. My babies are gorgeous. I'll post pics soon.

Pips are the worst, because they'll appear and then do absolutely nothing...forever!

Oh and do you guys know...I have a chick that is zipping and has its leg hanging out of the shell and the rest is inside. Will they hatch ok like that?

you're right...very exciting but the waiting is excruciating....i have two more eggs that have pipped!!!!
