Starting a flock of chickens for the first time. I'm only having a max of 6 chickens. I will be getting some EE, rocks, and reds. Do all have to be chicks starting out? If I get some week old chicks and a few 4 week old chicks, can I put them in the same brooder? The more information the better.
Thank you

4week old chicks will be bigger and more active and steady on their feet - than week old chicks. They may bully the younger ones or knock them over. Maybe when the week olds have grown more the size difference won't be so great. For now tho I would keep them separated. Could you put up a divider in the brooder so they will be kept apart but, still be able to see each other? Also the young chicks should have a higher temp in the brooder than the month old ones.

As long as there isn't a huge difference in age then I'd throw them all in together. Welcome to the site!
