I had 6 Orpingtons and 1 guinea hen who was an indoor at night pet. Last year I lost 2 to heat stroke, 2 to fly strike , my guinea hen to fox, and the last 2 I gave to a friend with a chicken farm.
My husband and I have decided to get chickens again, now that I know the ins and outs of chicken farming. I had them for 2 years, the winters sucked, but they live very well in a house I made with heating and lighting.
I am looking for suggestions on what other large breed birds there are out there. The orpington's were never lap sitters as some said they would be. I have these birds for pets and eggs, not for eating.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
