I have learned a lot on here "lurking", so I joined. Being a S. cracker country boy, I've had chickens off and on since a kid. I keep honeybees also. I lost all but 2 of my last flock when a neighbors dog (Rottweiler) literally tore the gate off my coop and killed all but one that was setting in a nest box while I was on vacation and a chick that was in brooder box in my motor home (2 days old when we left).
We (wife) are partial to Orpingtons and have a dozen mail order eggs in my homemade incubator right now. If I get 50%, I'll be tickled as long as 1 is a rooster. The Good Lord will take it from there. Stuck thermostat burned up the first try.
Thanks for the info I have gotten off here.

! Pleased you joined our flock! Too bad about your first flock - glad you are giving it another go! Best of luck with your hatch!

Hello and welcome from Ohio...so glad you joined BYC

Most times I am crossing my fingers for someone who DOES NOT want a rooster but I will cross them for you that you DO get one or maybe two
