Starting staggered hatching adventure

Pics
We now have 8 BC/CO babies and 1 Cornish baby!

I'm concerned about the first hatched BC/CO baby. It's umbilical is inflamed and the chick is kinda floppy. I moved it and the other chick that hatched last night into the brooder so I can keep a closer eye on the sick one without cracking the incubator. I put some ointment on the umbilical but basically I'm just crossing my fingers.

1 more Cornish chick! That makes 10 total.

Of the 11 remaining eggs, 6 have pipped. Of the 5 that haven't pipped, I think 2 are due today and 3 are from the 6 that were due Monday but I didn't take the time to check the egg dating when I was looking the eggs over quickly and removing the broken shell.

13 baby chicks now!

Of the 8 eggs left, 4 are pipped. 3 of the 4 unpipped eggs are from the batch that was due to hatch on Monday. 1 is a Cornish egg.

This chick is so cute! Every time I walk by the brooder, this one pokes its head out from under the heater plate a looks up expectantly to be petted or picked up.

I just found something scary.

I added the 8 Cornish eggs I got this week to the Brinsea. Apparently, I was only getting eggs from one of my Cornish hens because I am now getting eggs in two different colors. After I checked on the chicks I was walking away when I remembered I didn't candle the 9 cornish eggs I set the past 2 weeks. Then I saw it my Brinsea was off. It has been off for a while. I have no absolutely idea of when it was turned off. The eggs are room temperature. I believe it happened sometime this afternoon. But have no way of knowing for sure. The power strip that my incubators and candler are plugged into has individual switches for each plug. The switch for the Brinsea was off. I candled the eggs. All but one seem ok (good veining) that one had a blood ring, and wasn't as developed as the others.

At most I lost 8 eggs. Which isn't too bad considering my girls have picked up laying.

I believe the 4 non-pipped eggs are dead. Two have extremely drawn down air cells and the other two don't look right. One of the two pipped eggs hatched after some help. I could then see the issue. Its neck won't straighten out. Its still curled in the hatching position. I'm hoping it rights itself overnight but we'll see if I have to cull it tomorrow.

The other egg, I helped some more as well. It is in a bad position. It is still working its way out of the shell.

The hatch is finished!:woot

Unless any of the four eggs that I think are dead decide to hatch overnight.

The last chick got free of his shell. The second to last chick that had neck problems seems fine now.

However, I think one of my Cornish chicks has Splayed legs.

Final tally for the hatch, of the eggs that made it to lockdown:

3 of the 6 BC/CO eggs that were due to hatch on Monday hatched (2 on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday). Three embryos DIS (died in shell). One chick died about 24 hrs after hatch.

Of the 4 Cornish eggs that were due to hatch on Wednesday. 3 of them hatched. One DIS. One required a boot on one foot.

All 11 BC/CO eggs that were due to hatch did and all chicks are vigorous.
