Starting to think minor infection, NOT coryza.

Is it possible that they just got an respiratory infection from the dirt. I was convinced they had coryza. I culled most of them right away. The few I decided to treat, after 3 days, they look like healthy birds. They wre only a little snotty. I've been running around smelling everyone faces, (like a freak) and most have the same scent. Maybe like chicken breath, but not like something dead or rotten. I think I've got myself totally paranoid and confused. All the other birds have been around the ones I culled. So if it was/is Coryza wouldn't it have already ran through Everyone??? Only the group that was raised in this certain cage got sick! Hopefully I'm over reacting and with my frantic cleaning and disenfecting and NOT ever using that cage again, I've got it under control. I bought oxine and started giving them more ACV and organo oil in there water. This started over 5 weeks ago. How quick does coryza spread? I have both older and younger birds. I try but I know my biosercurity isn't the best. I;m hoping I've over reacted and thought the worse as always.

Chicken breath doesn't smell bad unless they are ill or have eaten something like garlic. And if you treat them, yes, they may seem to recover, but if it was Coryza, they will be carriers of the disease.

It's not normal for a chicken to have a snotty nose. In all the years I've kept chickens, I've never seen that in one of my birds, ever. I don't think you overreacted, however, you didn't have one tested to see what they had, so you don't know what it was. As far as biosecurity, you just have to do the best you can, since germs are invisible, and you can't be sure where they picked them up. Most flocks become ill from new birds brought in from elsewhere. I've never seen it proven that any chicken definitely got CRD or Coryza from a wild bird. It's possible, yes, but not probable.

Well I know there are a ton of respiratory issues. I guess my next question would be... How fast does coryza spread? I feed my chickens garlic all the time. I tried to make some phone calls to get one tested, but noone seems to wants to help me. All the birds out side of this group are very healthy and NOT snotty at all.
