I agree, easiest to assume it's the breed sold as, unless it has traits explicitly not part of said breed

His color is not red He's non standard, but partridge would be the best descriptor

Did you get him from Murray McMurray? And did you order a sexed pullet? You can get a refund for what you paid but doesn’t really help at this point.

99% of the time the “free” chick is a male.
