Wow, that's funny, because I had the same feeling as you did today... About a couple hours ago the chickens were free ranging while I was working on the coop, I went in the garage to get some supplies for about ten minutes, and when I come back, I see my White Leghorn, running like crazy like I never seen her before, and this is where I know something is wrong... She starts to make this noise that she only does during emergencies and when the two birds can't find eachother, so that is when I worry, I looked all around the garden, and no sign of our Silver Laced Wyandotte, I looked behind the trees to check for any other predators, and in the sky for a hawk, and no sign. My heart DROPPED at this point and I'm already thinking of how my Leghorn would live without her soulmate :(... Then I start to see her pecking at the fence, and she only does that when she wants to get to something, so I looked across the fence, and I see my other hen :D She was just standing there waiting for someone to bring her back home... So after 30 minutes of trying to get her to come back in our yard, I got her back with help of our white leghorn, and I put them back into their coop for the rest of the afternoon, and I kept thinking to myself, THANK GOD THEIR OKAY!!! So that happened today and I just wanted to share that with you because this reminded me of it... So sorry for your losses though!!! Kill the snake cause he will come back if you dont

DONT KILL THE SNAKE!!!!!!!! Dukies is right!!! it had to eat too!!!!!!!!! glad you found your hen though!

((i dont really care about snakes, i just dont think its right when humans think that they can kill an animal just because it ate their animal!!! People an be so stupid sometimes!!! animas need to eat too!!!))

Thank you! Why not kill it? I know it needs food, but wouldn't you shoot a raccoon if it keeps eating your chickens and you finally catch it? Because they will be back to eat some more chicks if you let it go, and they will prob bring some family and friends along with them to...
